- To diagnose complex cases that involve interactions between health concerns and brain-based or executive functioning deficits
- To diagnose an intellectual disability, Autism, or ADHD and explain associated deficits in executive functioning (problems with attention and learning) and provide planning for education, treatment, and daily living
- To diagnose dementia and other brain-based memory disorders (geriatric neuropsychology)
- To provide treatment recommendations for brain-based behavioral issues and emotional issues
- To differentiate between brain injury and mental illnesses such as depression
- To evaluate changes in sensory, motor, or cognitive function and determine their origin and provide treatment planning
